If you see on the top right, the life icon is "electrocuted" as well when Dixie is electrocuted.
Isn't that weird?

It could have something to do with palette changes. In DKC 1, the kongs share a palette with the life icon. This could be an indicator that the mechanic was kept for the later games. Probably to save space, as only a certain number of palettes can be on the SNES at any one time.

And seems to be the case as the life icon only does that when Dixie is electrocuted, but not when Kiddy is electrocuted.
