Recording music correctly

Some people just have problems recording video game music, especially some of the DK games.

Let me list some examples:

Recording in poor quality

Game: Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
Song: DK Jungle 1 Theme
Done right
Done wrong

Beginning from the wrong starting point and/or with SFX

Game: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Song: Battle for Storm Hill
Done right
Done wrong

Your best possible bet is to rip the songs from the ROM or ISO. Of course, if you try to rip music direct from the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat ISO, you might end up with a cacophony of clashing instruments and an audience constantly chanting "Go!" and "Pan!" simultanously due to the way the music is designed in the game, unless you can disable these layers of instruments.

What does anybody here think of poor attempts to record video game music? Any particularly bad examples you want to share here?

It's pretty much common knowledge to mute the sound effects and not use crappy quality. The people that made those videos are just really lazy.

This guide would be much more useful if you had explained how to record in good quality and rip music from a ROM.
