This is going to be a thread where you can post your selfmade DKC-related animations. As for instance a running Donkey or a jumping Winky, or even something as shocking as a Rareware logo appearing out of thin air. It started as a topic in "Anything Goes", where I asked for programms to make my own GIF-animations, but Qyzbud and I thought that it should be in the DKC Projects/Artwork board. I'm still searching for new GIF-animators, free and good ones prefered.
Spoiler!
Can anyone recommend me a free and good programm to make my own animated gifs? I want to make an animated gif out of the Rare logo animation in the beginning of DKC. I've already seen a version of this in the internet, but I need it in double size, because this would make a nice stand-by screen for mobile phones with a 320x240 display. If I'll ever pull it off, I would share this animation with you all, of course.
I've already captured the pics with SNES9X, at least I hope I haven't lost one in the process.
Edit: I've found a programm (just a demo you can only open 20 times) that can make the existing one bigger. But maybe sometimes I'll make my own one, the one i found didn't use every frame. It had ca. 60 different images, but I've captured roughly over 200
Spoiler contains original post from "Anything Goes".

Free ones are usually crappy, so I don't know. I use Animation Shop 3 for the few .GIF's I do make.

Just lost one trial due to a storm, the short voltage fluctuation led to rebooting my PC Woah, I think I'll never tire of looking at this animation on my mobile. Just so... ...amazing!
Edit: I started editing the pictures, can someone confirm that it consists of 209 frames from the first to the last frame?
Finally there is the animation, normal size and double size. The right is same as the left, just for symmetrical reasons
Even with a frame delay of 1/100 sec the animation is far slower than expected. Looks like it can't be solved.

So, I'm working at a Game Boy playing Conker at the moment. Isn't that DKC-related (but Rarelated). It is at least an animation.
I would like to have a fitting endless animation, but that is going to be hard. Conkers tail moves are independant from his GB-playing moves.

I'm testing a new avatar at the moment, it's a gif and so, it may be a bit more time-consuming. If there are too many 56k/64k user, no problem, I'll change it back then. Or just stay away from topics I'm posting in. Reading my comments are not worth the trouble
It's about 70KB, the old was about 7KB.

Here is an animation that always makes me wonder about the future of the DKC series.
It's not mine, though.

I made a faster, but lower quality version of the Rareware logo from DKC. Made with UnFREEz 2.1. Nice website by the way.

^ I'm quite proud of this one... it loops really well.

Good job on the waterfall animation — maybe we should look into making some DKC screensavers! That could be an awesome project.
This might be old news, but I just found a short DKC claymation video on YouTube:
Not trying to argue here, I'm just making a suggestion. Seriously, MS paint is crippled compared to Paint.NET (which is NOT a Microsoft product).

Hey Simon, can you move a post of mine? I posted in the custom/edited sprite section an animation that should really be here. I animated Dixie riding on Winky. Thanks in advance!
Simion32 says: Your post is now here, further up the page. I don't think I can reorder it, though.

Thanks guys! I've actually wanted to do that for a while, even before I knew how to animate with Photoshop. Now I just have to figure out what to do next! Maybe Donkey on Rattly?
I've finished another animation! I did make Donkey idling on Rattly! This one, I'm really proud of. I can't upload it just yet, probably tomorrow it will be up. The reason I'm so proud of it is because I couldn't use DK's animation of him riding a buddy, because it would have looked funny. When you look at Diddy and Dixie riding him, they grab Rattly's neck. So I took DK's rope animation instead. It looks pretty good and I can't wait to upload it!

I've finished some animations! I made DK idling on Rattly. I used his rope animation, because his normal animal buddy animation would have looked funny. I made Sqwaks holding DK. I used a frame from him jumping and make the tie move. The last one seems kind of silly, but hear me out. I took Dixie's idling animation from DKC3 and put her idling on Rambi. In DKC2, she doesn't have an animation for sitting on Rambi, she just sits there without moving. I know they're not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with them. If I have time, I can fix them up a little bit.

I have a little improvement for DK's horizontal rope, thanks to Markster's sprites. I think it turned out pretty good. *edit* I actually just fixed it up a little bit.

Very good, a lot better than the original one I made, tell hiperkalango about this one, he will like it, he needs DK horizontal climbing sprite for his fan-game Donkey Kong Country 4.

Thanks! I sent him a message. I also put the sprite sheet on the custom edited sprite page.
Should I make sprite sheets of all of the custom animations I've made? I don't know if people can use the animations as they are or if they need a sprite sheet. I've never really hacked a game or anything, so I don't really know how it all works. My hopes in the animations I've made is that they would be able to be used in DKC fan games, if people wanted to use them.

I think the next thing I'm going to work on is DK climbing up two vertical ropes. If anybody has any suggestions on how to make this easier, it would be much appreciated. I have no idea how I'm going to do this one!
I'm also going to be working on putting all of the Kongs on all of the animal buddies (riding, idling, and jumping). I don't know if I'm going to be able to do Kiddy idling on animal buddies, because his idling animation is REALLY long. I don't know if I have the patience for it!

On Donkey Kong Land, when he goes rope to rope, he does something similar to what Diddy and Dixie did in DKC2 with those ropes, why don't you make it kinda look like that?

I've also made DK going up two ropes. It's not the best looking animation ever, so if you have any suggestions or can improve it in any way, you're more than welcome to.

I will soon have the animation for him going downward. I have a way to make it look better than just reversing the animation I already have. Also, if you want a sprite sheet to edit anything I have, all you have to do is ask!

Yeah, I'm still working on Dixie swinging. I wanted to take a little break from that for a while. I'm going back to that now, actually. I also just finished DK going down two ropes. I'll upload it soon. It looks much better than him going up, I think. The Dixie swinging animation will take a while. There's a lot that I have to do to make it look good. I hope it works as I have planned.

I have Dixie's swinging animation nearly complete. I just have to get to my other computer with a newer version of photoshop. My old one will only allow 60 frames of animation; the one I'm almost done with will be just over 60 frames. Once I get to make sure the animation is smooth, I can upload it and then make a sprite sheet. The sprite sheet might take a while... because it will be 60+ frames. If there is any way I can upload a file or something to make it easier on myself and those that would like to use said animation, let me know what file or whatever you would need it in.

You are helping with Simion32's DELTA Game Engine and DKC Level Builder really well, nice creations. ---------- And have you thought of doing Kiddy Kong animations any time soon.

Thanks! Well, it kinda started out with attempting a Kiddy animation. I was going to make Kiddy swinging on a rope. I will probably go back to it... but it was pretty difficult. He gives me some trouble, for some reason, I think it's because of his huge, meaty arms and tiny legs. I'll figure out how to do the animation, eventually, but I have to get a better idea of how to do it, first.

I think this is about all the more I can do with Dixie swinging on a rope. Let me know if anybody has any suggestions. I think this is the best I can do, at least for now.
If you anybody wants the psd file, I can upload it. If you can improve it in any way, you're more than welcome to. I just think that if I look at this again, I'm going to scream... I've had enough of this for now.... I need to move on to something else.

Thanks guys! :D I'm glad you like it! I'll upload the PSD tomorrow! The head, hair, and body are separate layers (except for the first maybe three or four, for some reason a while back I combined the layers, which was stupid) so if further editing is needed, it can be done with relative ease. (The background, of course, is also separate.) Next up should be Kiddy swinging.
EDIT: I've uploaded the file of Dixie swinging in the DKLB General Discussion Topic.

Thanks so much, Markster!
I'm glad you guys like them so much! I still see them as needing a few tweaks, which I might fix later on.
Should I change her clothes to purple so there's her other team colour? If I do, that might take a while. Should I do the same with Kiddy (make an animation of both team colours), or is there some easier way than going through pixel by pixel changing the colour to make it exact? I've tried to look up a tutorial on photoshop to change it to a more exact colour, but I've not found anything.
