Good question. I like to think they're brothers just like the bears in DKC3.
I like how Squawks was technically in DKC but had a different purpose.
Maybe you could find a Donkey Kong wiki out there that would tell you the background of all characters.

Your work is like a little taste of what's to come in DKCLB. It's kind of refreshing to see new animations that didn't exist in the original games.

I love the new Kiddy on a ledge animation.
It may be just me but I think Kiddy's eye pop looks good but I think his mouth opens a little too far.

The best way is to use a Q-Tip and as little rubbing alcohol as you can get away with. Make sure the pins are completely dry before attempting to play. :P
