I cant't blame them either, honestly game breaking bug or not DK64 was better off with the expansion pack, I mean look at Banjo-Tooie as much as I love the game it was slow in the frames per second department using the normal N64 setup, and B-T's maps were smaller then DK64's.
Right here from Nintendolife. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/05/donkey_kong_64_required_expansion_pak_to_prevent_game_breaking_bug To think all this time it was needed to prevent the game from crashing, although I'm guessing even if I could have ran it would have been like Perfect Dark stripp...
Gameplay looks good so far all Retro needs to do now is add a player select and it will be perfect for me. This game, Smash bros 4, Rayman Legends, and Sonic lost world are all I need to convince me to pick up a Wii U now which is more then I can say for the lackluster PS4 showcase and the awful Xbo...
Apparently, Nintendo and Retro are making a sequel to the Wii title, the best part Dixie is now along for the ride and one other character whom they are not revealing for the time being. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7b9FnSvEQxE#aid=P8Pdr23TT2Q This makes up for the lazy...
I have a few to add to the list. - Physics are slightly different overall. - Can no longer replay bosses without paying Swanky. - Snapjaw's Big cartoony bite animation is replaced by Lockjaw's bite animation. - When DK punches K.Rool he now flies through the window, rather then the ceiling. - Can on...
The scary thing is some pirate games look almost like the real one and reqiure a closer look to tell the difference. The Nintendo ds seems to have a lot of pirates that look almost like the real game itself. http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/How-to-spot-a ... 0007994660
I was wondering has anyone seen a real pirated version of of a video game cart, I saw a pirated version of Sonic 3-d blast for sale at a local game store once. I know it's a pirate because it had no red stripe saying "Genesis" on it and I believe I found a pirated Poke'mon leaf green at a ...
Note: This quote is lifted from another topic, but the reply I'm going to give is better suited here. There are also several unused palette variants in DKC2, all of which are leftovers from DKC1. Maybe DKC2 was going to have more lighting effects, but Rare couldn't do it in time I mean DKC2 compared...
There are still a few frames missing with Dixie as she has looking up while on the exit flagpole sprites that seem to be missing on the sheet, but otherwise the sheet is fairly compelete.
I found these on youtube I highly recommend you watch these they are pretty good. DKC title music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDWXs_7MNRY Stickerbrush (bramble) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezH1j3V5nBI&feature=related Hot head hop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_VtzHEvo2c&feature=relat...
Shy Guy's Stash you would be surprised about how much you don't notice on old TV's, like the color dithering some games on the Snes and a lot of games on the Genesis did.
I have a suggestion on Diddy carrying heavier characters why not edit Dixie's sprite of carrying heavier characters? As for DK why not edit him to have a carry animation like Kiddy?
Oh I have something I knew of for a while but never thought to share it here til now. In DKC 3 I believe there is a unused behaviour for Koindozer it is possible through ROM hacking to set up the game to allow a steel keg to kill Koindozer just like Koin. I know it's not very exciting really, after ...
Well some larger forums sadly tend to do stuff like this, mainly because they can afford to lose some potenial members, that and the fact that Sonic fanboys err.. tend to behave like children sometimes.
It looks good so far you may want to either change the baddies to use DKC sprites or change DK's sprites to Jungle climbers because I find that the sprites kinda clash at this point due to different art styles.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJQPyhzrrno&feature=player_embedded Oh Sonic you knew you told your past self total lies. If past Sonic saw Sonic 06 I could see him with these reactions too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPuyQc&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmlLCc...
Thanks for teying Banjo I hope you find him fun, oh and here's some info on my new WIP. (Post from Mugen evolution) Now that Darkwing is released here is my newest WIP a revamped version of Fer 619's Taz now like Garfield some things are changed from the original, the sprites mainly unlike Garfield ...
I had two copies of Madden 97 that got for dirt cheap and I tested them both on my Genesis the odd thing is they both start up fine, but as soon as the game goes past the coin toss both of my carts will freeze in the exact same way everytime it kinda errie I wonder why this happens, is it just a coi...
Personally I'm just happy we got anything remotely like the classic DKC games recently at least DK got a new game and I'm quite happy really some video game mascots are not even as lucky as DK is, heck there even is some characters who are well liked that haven't been in a new game of ANY kind in ov...
@ Tiptup.Jr- Never say never on a another chance of a DKC sequel, however it will likely not be for a long while though at least, besides if you thought DK had it bad then Banjo and Earthworm Jim would like to have a word with you. @ Simion32- The problem with Nuts and bolts isn't just the veh...
I thought of something cool to see in a sequel more retro soundtracks like some of DKC2/DKC3's music I noticed DKC returns only had remixes for the first game and not the sequels it was kinda dissapointing really. I don't want Retro to make a sequel. They had their chance with the first game and fai...
Regarding this game on project64 I wouldn't really recommend it unless you can't get the game any other way, besides what Simion32 already said eariler the game has random bouts of slowdown and some of the textures are either missing or not blended together like they should be, if you can find the c...
This just in the beta has been released to the public, but for obvious reasons I can't post a link to the rom sorry remember as Simion32 always says "Google is your friend"
I've been wanting to state my reasons on this port for a while, but only now do I feel I'm ready to post this, before I go on I will say for the record that DKC itself on the GBA was a okay game however I'm judging this based on how well it was ported from the Snes which in that regard was not very ...
This looks like it was a fairly complete build of the game around 70% or so. Watching this supports my theory that some of the backgrounds in the game were not changed until fairly late in development.
I know the green ones are used in the Snes version so I'm surprised that they aren't used in the GBA port, then again Rare kinda rushed the GBA port out the door.
Capcom for some always had some problems porting/making makes on consoles in the 90's for some odd reason, a good example of this is TMNT turtles in time vs the Final fight games where as Komani made TMNT4 run very smoothly with 2 players without lag in 1992, Capcom couldn't do it with two players i...
I believe ya on that one If you don't program your game well, you will have bouts of slowdown regardless of how powerful the processor is. The GBA port of DKC2 is proof of that, as there is slowdown in Parrot Chute Panic which was not present in the Snes version even though the processor is much wea...
Here is a guy who knows what a good sonic game is. His name is NickAqua and he has made some Good intelligent obervations about why the Sonic games were good in the 90's and not so good today, you see as NickAqua says it wasn't just about speed it was about the platforming as well, anyway here are s...
It's niice to see that work the game engine is going smoothly, but there is one problem I forsee and it's nothing to do with the engine itself, rather missing sprites for certain actions like DK having no horizonal rope climbing sprites or Dixie and Kiddy having no swinging on rope animations.
I found another thing regarding the PCM chip in the Genesis is that the past themes in Sonic CD uses the PCM chip instead of the Redbook audio and it sounds pretty good, this may have to do with the fact that the CD format has much more memory then a cart so the sound chip can be used to it's fullest.
